Employment Advisory Initiative
Volunteer Agreement

Dear Volunteer:
I want to thank you on behalf of the Temple Israel Center Employment Advisory Committee for volunteering to help others in our community search for new employment. These are troubling times for all of us, and helping each other find a path of light and hope brings our community closer and demonstrates the caring and unique congregation that is Temple Israel Center.

As you may well know, Maimonides (or RaMBaM--Rabbi Moshe Ben Maimon) organized Tzedakah into eight levels. In the highest category is helping someone find a job.

Two housekeeping details: First, unless you have already told us that you do NOT want your name revealed as a volunteer, we prefer to list the names of our volunteers, their areas of expertise, and the kinds of mentoring they are comfortable offering. For example, the webpage lists my name that I have expertise in banking and that I am willing to review and edit resumes, and to help people prepare for interviews.

For a variety of reasons, those seeking help may prefer to work with or may be sensitive about working with particular congregants because of personal or business relationship. Listing each volunteer’s name helps connect those asking for help with those best able to provide it. However, if you do NOT want your name used, please let us know. If we do not hear from you, we will use the typical volunteer listing, which includes your name.

Second, as you can understand, some of those seeking help may be very sensitive about their privacy. We ask that you abide by the following privacy pledge

I understand that maintaining the privacy of those I volunteer
to help is an important aspect of the Employment Advisory Initiative.
Unless I get specific permission from the person, I agree not
to disclose the fact that they are seeking help from the Committee,
the nature of my work for them, the kinds of jobs or companies
they may be interested in, their progress in locating a new position,
or other personal information about the Committee or its work.
Similarly, unless I get specific permission from the person, I will not
circulate their name, resume, or other documents to potential employers.
At Temple functions, I will not raise matters related
to our work together within the hearing of others, unless the
person gives me specific permission to do so.

Again, thank you so much for your help in this important project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, steve.kessler@sac.com or Joel.R.Wolfson@BofASecurities.com .

Sincerely,
Steve Kessler
