T.I.C.'s Listening Campaign

What is the T.I.C. Listening Campaign?
We are doing outreach in our congregation, to strengthen our community. We are working to get to know you better, and what your interests and talents are, so we can create stronger connections between individuals within our community. Through this Listening Campaign, we hope to uncover new leaders within our community. The one-to-one conversations provide us with a better foundation to discuss and learn about people’s concerns, hopes and struggles in the greater community.
How do I learn more about the Listening Campaign and become involved?
A group of T.I.C. congregants participated in the first Listening Campaign training session in March of 2010. They learned how to initiate one-to-ones, face-to-face reciprocal conversations. These congregants are now in the process of contacting members of our community to sit down for face-to-face conversations to continue building a stronger community here at Temple Israel Center. We are working our way through the T.I.C. roster and, since we are a large community, this will take time.
Through numerous conversations with members of our community, the organizing team identified three themes which were the focus of our House Meetings:
(1) Caring About Our Seniors
(2) Building Community With Our Youth
(3) Making This Community Your Own
These 90-minute house meetings allowed congregants to explore and share experiences that relate to the themes listed above in a small group setting at a congregant’s home. These details assist in providing a clearer illustration of the needs, concerns, and hopes that exist within our community.

Hazak, hazak v’nithazek!
Be strong, be strong, and may we be strengthened!
