Welcome
Elul 5768
Dear Parents and students,
Welcome to a new year in the Religious School at Temple Israel Center! As the new Director of Education, I am thrilled and privileged to be your partner in educating your children.
This year, the theme for our school will be Haggigah, which means Celebration! We will celebrate learning both in and out of our classrooms through experiential, interactive programs and special events. We will celebrate our families through the LIFE!program, a parallel parent learning program for grades K-2 and through family brunches and activities coordinated by our Family Educator, Abby Reiken. Our Religious School community will celebrate God, Torah, Hebrew, Israel, and the Jewish holidays through our spiral curriculum and our new Middle School and High School Director, Robin Friedman, has created new opportunities for our teens to celebrate who they are and their connection to the TIC community. Additionally, our youth will have many reasons to celebrate during Ruach and Kadima events, which our new Youth Director, Eliza Zipper, has enthusiastically developed.
TIC’s past will be celebrated during the various Centennial school and community programs throughout the year and our future will be celebrated as we implement new and exciting changes in the Religious School, Middle School, and High School, which are the direct result of our participation in ECE’s Re-imagine Project. We do indeed have much to celebrate this year!
Most importantly, thank you for inviting us to be your partner in the education of your child. It is something that the entire TIC education staff enacts with passion, takes very seriously, and does with lots of love. Our school is a unique community of educators, clergy, parents, and students who share common goals and commitment to explore our Judaism and the Jewish people within an environment encouraging exploration, inquiry, and joy!
We look forward to learning, sharing, and living together Jewishly with all of you!
Along with the entire faculty and staff, I wish you a happy, sweet New Year.
L’Shana Tovah U’mtukah,
Nancy Parkes
