The Subway Girls by Susie Schnall

The Subway Girls is the story of two strong women, a generation apart, who find themselves up against the same eternal struggle to find an impossible balance between love, happiness, and ambition. The dual story-line is based upon the fascinating miss subway contest that ran in NYC from 1941-1976.
