A conservative, egalitarian synagogue

Welcome to Temple Israel Center, a vital presence in the Jewish community of central Westchester County. We are a forward-looking spiritual community whose members look to bring meaning and purpose into their lives through authentic engagement with Judaism.

What distinguishes our community from other suburban synagogues in Westchester? It is the dynamism of our community based upon each member's recognition that their own particular backgrounds and interests are together responsible for each member's experience of a broad and meaningful Jewish life.

In entering our building, one is immediately reminded of the continuing power of Torah, worship, and acts of kindness to root our physical and spiritual lives. Our community cherishes and upholds traditional Jewish practice, but never loses sight of the truth that tradition's whole value is to enrich and empower its adherents in the present moment. We live out our Conservative movement's many contributions to contemporary Jewish practice including the reverence for Jewish law as a sustainer of sacred community, and a broad, principled commitment to egalitarianism and inclusion.

With a large membership, there is much that we can offer each other and to every seeker. As a kehillah kedoshah, a sacred congregation, we teach, learn and support each other on our respective Jewish journeys and lives. Perhaps most important, we celebrate the gifts that are the special talents and experiences that each of us brings to our entire community.

We know that you will feel welcome at Temple Israel Center, and we look forward to getting to know you. B'rukhim Ha-Ba'im – Welcome!
