We are looking forward to another great year of study (the 40th) as the Learning Institute kicks off on Tuesday, October 13, via Zoom. We have always charged a fee to defray the expenses of this program, and will be reducing that cost to just $25/person this semester, recognizing that virtual experiences are not quite the same as in-person ones. We appreciate your continued support!
Tuesday mornings from 10:00–11:00 am & 12:00–1:00 pm
Class schedule will be subject to demand.
SESSION 1: 10:00–11:00 am
A Book that Was Lost and Other Stories by S.Y. Agnon
Special emphasis will be placed on historic background, religious references and the author’s unique and inspiring life which spanned the rich Jewish experience of Eastrern Europe and the emergence of a new and vibrant Jewish life in the State of Israel. As always time will be allotted for interactive discussion. Note: Both hard back and paperback editions are available on Amazon, used copies on Thrift Books. Given the reduced cost of the program, the number of sessions that Gloria offers will also need to be adjusted, although we hope to learn with her as often as possible!
Instructor: Gloria Goldreich, critic, novelist and lecturer
SESSION 2: 12:00–1:00 pm
Chumash with Rashi
We will look at each week’s Torah portion through the prism of the great rabbi’s famous commentary.
Instructor: Rabbi Annie Tucker, Senior Rabbi Temple Israel Center
