B'nai Mitzvah

Celebrating this joyful milestone marks an important moment for your child and, indeed, for your entire family. At Temple Israel Center, we view the B’nai Mitzvah experience as a multi-year journey that we hope is enriching, filled with learning and growth.

Formal preparation begins one year prior to the date of your simcha and includes meetings with Aviva Seiden, our interim B’nai Mitzvah coordinator, assigning you one of our experienced tutors, meetings with one of our Rabbis, and a series of community building opportunities as your day draws near.

Here is a “Who’s Who” at TIC as it relates to the B’nai Mitzvah experience:

Rabbi Annie Tucker leads our B’nai Mitzvah program. Please feel free to contact her with any questions pertaining to our rituals and services. Our clergy and education team also creates and facilitates meaningful educational programs for children and families in the journey toward becoming B’nai Mitzvah and beyond.

Aviva Seiden helps to coordinate our B’nai Mitzvah tutoring.

Both of our rabbis, Rabbi Tucker and Assistant Rabbi Josh Bender, conduct students’ B’nai Mitzvah services and work with them on their Divrei Torah (speeches).

Director of Learning and Inclusion Michelle Steinhart is available if you or your child has any special needs or concerns. Michelle is happy to work with you, your family and the B’nai Mitzvah team at TIC to help plan for a service and experience that will best meet the needs of your child.

Operations Manager Sue Safir manages the logistics for our B’nai Mitzvah including space rentals, catering, floral arrangements and photography questions.

Finance Manager Desiree Vacca is responsible for member billing.

Program Coordinator Rebecca Stulberger maintains TIC’s B’nai Mitzvah calendar and handles all B’nai Mitzvah communications.

Michelle Kantor and Diana Sklar serve as the co-chairs of the B’nai Mitzvah Committee which assigns B’nai Mitzvah dates.

You may find contact information for our clergy, education team, and administrative staff on our website.
